The Clark County Genealogy Library was founded in 1975. First located on Maple St behind the Clark County Historical Museum it was moved in 1996 to 521 Locust St on the south side of the Courthouse square. Structural problems along with a dwindling number of volunteers has resulted in the volumes of material on Clark Co. and the surrounding areas being donated to the Marshall Public Library in Marshall. The nonprofit will be moving to a building south of town to house the remainder of materials while a future home for them is found. Our mailing address will remain as: P.O. Box 206, Marshall, IL 62441.
Being a non-profit organization we are run by volunteers and funded solely by donations. Our library housed historical records including family history, county births, deaths, marriages, war records, census records, and cemetery records. These will be found in the Marshall Public Library after the end of the first week of June 2023.
We are currently open to the public Thursday through Saturday, 12:30 - 3pm CST. Appointments are available outside of normal hours for a nominal fee. Paid research is also available. After the move to the Marshall Public Library is made the materials will be available when the library is open.
